Taniquewa Brewster

Taniquewa is a devoted mother of five, a foster parent, and community advocate from Austin, Texas, whose expertise includes active involvement as a community organizer, doula, notary, community health worker, and Community Development Commissioner. Guided by compassion and a belief in a person’s potential, Taniquewa joined the VOICE Board to ensure that lived experiences get the chance to shape authentic research and policy change. For Taniquewa, “voice” means to be heard, to be felt, and to be present. She describes herself as “a work in progress” and believes the real data with the VOICE Board is vital because it amplifies those who are rarely heard while reminding us that healing, rest, and growth are all parts of lasting progress.
