William Goodwin

William is a father, who grew up in Oakland during the 1960s and now lives in Pittsburg, California. The single father proudly shares that his daughter became the first in his family to afford to attend college. He is dedicated to changing systems shaped by inequity and exclusion. From a large family himself, William carries forward a belief in hard work, process, and authenticity, coupled with a passion for cultivating growth both in his personal garden and in his community. William serves on the VOICE Board to represent perspectives often absent from research, especially those of men facing trauma and health disparities. For him, “voice” means being truly valued for lived experience, and he believes this work is transforming outdated research models by placing people most affected at the center to shape outcomes that create lasting impact.
