Mary Durden
National Partnership Strategy Director
Mary is the National Partnership Strategy Director at UpTogether. Mary drives UpTogether’s national partnership strategy and creates opportunities for partners and additional key stakeholders to apply strategies that improve economic and social mobility for the millions of people in financially under-resourced communities. She is motivated by issues at the intersections of economic, gender, and racial justice and is committed to uplifting survivors of oppression. Much of Mary’s career has focused on revolutionizing access to reproductive health. Most recently, she worked at Ibis Reproductive Health where she managed the communications, coalition building, and policy efforts for Free the Pill, a national campaign working toward making a birth control pill available over the counter in the US. She also helped establish a research project focused on improving abortion and contraceptive care for transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive individuals. Mary also worked at the National Network of Abortion Funds where she supported staff, board members, and abortion funds across the US as the Operations and Outreach Manager.
Mary holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Gender and Women’s Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and Wellesley College, respectively. She is a proud Minnesota native who enjoys spending her days with her wife and son in New York.
