Mariela brings a unique blend of personal experience and non-profit expertise. Having grown up in a low-income background, she intimately understands the challenges faced by underserved communities.
Born in the vibrant landscapes of Mexico, she embodies the remarkable journey of immigration and determination. Her early life was shaped by the rich culture, community bonds, and the aspiration for a better life. The decision to immigrate to the United States was rooted by her parents, driven by the desire to overcome financial challenges.
She is motivated by the belief that every individual deserves a chance to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. Mariela is the first generation to obtain a college degree in her family. She holds a BA in Multimedia Journalism from University of New Mexico and a MA in Mass Communication from Eastern New Mexico University. Her free time involves outdoor activities and reading non-fiction books.
