Claudia Muralles

Claudia is a mother of four, a community mentor, advocate, and recent college scholar who embodies resilience, education, and hope. She overcame homelessness as a young mother to now balancing life in Marin county—one of the most expensive counties in Caliifornia—as a professional and advocate for equity. Her Guatemalan roots make community a priority for her as she continues to be a mentor for other mothers growing through the ups and downs of financial hardship and limited income. She uses her experiences to amplify the voices of families with similar circumstances and even helped persuade a new funding opportunity to reinvest in families in Marin County. Claudia says she joined the VOICE Board because she believes that both the stories and the numbers matter in ways that should convince decision makers to recognize their power. She wants to ensure that community stories and data together influence real policy change so that families like hers are seen, heard and supported in creating a better future—one consistent with her lifelong commitment to celebrating cultures, uplifting women, and creating pathways for families to thrive.
